The Advisor and the Academic Council
The Academic Council applies or waives existing academic policy within the MSPP Program. Advisors, students, faculty members and administrator may petition the Council for informal advisory opinions and/or binding decisions. Any student requests must be presented in a written petition which includes an advisor’s recommendation. The advisor must have a central role in addressing petitions to the Council. The Academic Council should not be used by the advisor to avoid taking a critical or difficult evaluative stance with the advisee. The advisor assumes primary responsibility for monitoring the implementation of Council (or IRC) determinations.
