MSPP Mental Health Humanitarian Award
Arnold Kerzner is an innovative child psychiatrist, educator, administrator and family advocate. During his distinctive career, he has dedicated himself to strengthening the connections that nurture healthy development in children and families. Dr. Kerzner was the Chief of the Clinical Service at Human Relations Service (HRS). During his 40-year service to the agency, he worked with hundreds of children and families and provided consultation to scores of area schools. His commitment to the well-being of children inspired Dr. Kerzner to found the Boston Institute for the Development of Infants and Parents (BIDIP), which has since found a home at MSPP. This multidisciplinary institute explores the interactional world of the infant and parent and the contributions that many specialists make to successful child and parent relationships. Dr. Kerzner is spending his “retirement” as the Clinical Director of Youth Behavioral Services at the Lowell Community Health Center. MSPP is privileged to honor this gifted man for his many contributions to the mental health needs of children and families.
