On Friday, May 4, 2012, over 340 faculty, staff, alumni and friends of MSPP gathered at the Newton Marriott for our 8th Annual Gala: Celebrating Our Commitment to Children and Families.

The event, which honored Dr. Arnold Kerzner and Dr. Edward Zadravec, raised over $100,000 towards critical MSPP initiatives including our new concentration, Children and Families of Adversity and Resilience, our Freedman and Brenner Centers, and a pilot model with West Roxbury High School that will advance our understanding of how to best deliver mental health care to young people and their families.

The evening was a lively one, with entertainment by Celtics half-time dance troupe Li’l Phunk, an auction that encouraged bidding and moving awards presentations and tributes.

Mental illness is now the leading cause of disability among children. MSPP’s degree programs in Counseling, Forensic, School and Clinical psychology are bringing new professionals to improve needed access to mental health care and to reduce the burden that these children and families endure. Our students work in 171 sites and provide 93,000 hours of direct service to children and families. Thanks to all who attended and supported this event, MSPP is now better able than ever to provide this vital continuum of clinical training and direct service

Thank you!
