The Janice Furtado Memorial Fund
To Help Support the Train Vets to Treat Vets Program
With great sadness we announce the sudden death of Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology student, colleague and friend Janice Furtado on Friday, April 13, 2012.
Staff Sgt. Furtado served her country for six years in the Air Force and was stationed across the world in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan , Pakistan, Qatar and Malaysia. Janice was not only a voice for women in the military, but she was deeply committed to bringing mental health services to her comrades through her work at the Brockton Vet Center. Her unusual empathy and compassion allowed her to engage veterans of all ages and to work successfully with them. Along with her military colleagues at MSPP, Janice was instrumental in bringing the school’s Train Vets to Treat Vets program into being. Her warmth, her radiant smile and her unwavering dedication to service distinguished her. She will be sorely missed.
