MSPP Student Ambassador
University of New Hampshire
MA in Media Psychology
My name is Brett Roell and I am completing my Master Degree in Media Psychology. I am originally from Buffalo, New York, currently living in Boston, MA. I graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Major in Psychology and a Minor in Hospitality Management. I was not quite sure what path I wanted to pursue; all I knew is that I wanted to use my degree in some capacity. Researching various graduate programs in Psychology, I came across the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. I started reading about each program, when I came upon a Master Degree Program in Media Psychology. It was the perfect program that I had been looking for throughout my search. Cutting edge and new, it intertwined my two interests of Media and Psychology into one coherent format. After attending an Open House and speaking with Dr. Eric Gregory, Chairman of the Organizational and Leadership Psychology Department, I knew it would be right for me.
The more I learn in the program, the more excited I become. Everything seems to have clicked. The thought of using Psychology and Media together to explore cognition will afford the opportunity to reach new frontiers in Psychology. This is what is so exciting, that it can be incorporated into research, business, health fields, government, education and entertainment. It is only limited by imagination. The unique blend of Psychology mixed with the everyday aspects of the Media has become my passion.
I am a member of the Student Coordinating Committee, and do some freelance video photography for the school.
I would advise incoming or interested students that the Professors are not only brilliant but are caring. They always go out of their way to help you. This is what makes MSPP different and special from other graduate schools. I have been extremely happy and motivated by my course of study, that I am contemplating continuing my education for the Doctor of Psychology in the Organizational and Leadership Psychology Program. A word of advice is to make sure and take some time for yourself.
