Counseling Psychology in Couples and Family Therapy
Hello prospective and entering students!
Hi there prospective applicants!
I am a student in the new Counseling Psychology in Couples and Family Therapy program. I'm very excited to be a part of a something new at MSPP. I'm a Bostonian through and through, but I did live in Connecticut for a few years for my undergraduate career. I originally wanted to become a physician and majored in Biological Sciences and Physiology and Neurobiology, but I quickly learned that medical school just wasn't my cup of tea. I took some time off after graduation to figure things out and eventually stumbled upon the world of Psychology. One thing led to another and I began to take a look at MSPP. Upon learning about the Couples and Family program, I immediately knew this was exactly what I was looking for.
I'm very happy I found a career that lets me combine my passion for helping people with a medium well-suited for myself. This particular program at MSPP is unique because not only is rigorous, but it also sets you up for licensure as an LMHC and LMFT upon graduation, and it's been going really well so far. I'm thoroughly enjoying my classes and my practicum. It was a little daunting to be working at a site right away but the support you receive from your supervisors and the faculty is unparalleled; you never feel like you're alone here at MSPP.
Although I was nervous to attend a small school after graduating from a very large one, the faculty and my peers have helped make this transition very easy for me, and I can say, without a doubt, that I am very happy with my decision to pursue an education at MSPP. I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can to become a competent and well-learned mental health clinician and family therapist.
