MSPP Institutional Aid
MSPP grants are generally $1,000-$5,000 per year and are need based. We have programs currently in place designed to increase these amounts in the future. Over $199,000 in the form of grants and scholarships were awarded in the 2007-2008 year.

The Dr. Cynthia Lucero Scholarship
Grants will be awarded to an entering students with an interest in Latino Mental Health and a serious commitment to working with underserved Latino/Hispanic communities in the U.S. The Lucero Scholar will receive $15,000 yearly for 4 years, and will be selected among entering doctoral students who enroll full time in the PsyD program. Selection criteria will be based on a student who exemplifies the work and dedication of the late Dr. Cynthia Lucero (an MSPP graduate who passed away in 2002 while running the Boston Marathon) to address the specific mental health needs of Latinos. Good academic standing is required in order to maintain the scholarship for four years.
Please note: Along with FAFSA, the MSPP Grant/Loan Certification Form is the only application necessary for the above awards.
IMPORTANT: The application deadline for financial aid for incoming students is February 14, 2008. The application deadline for returning students is April 16, 2008.
Teaching Assistantships & Stipends
Limited additional financial support is available in the form of field placement stipends, teaching assistantships, administrative support services for the Library and Continuing Education and campus employment.
Field Placement Stipends
One source of financial support continues to come from field placements offering stipends to students for their field placement work. In 2007-2008
nine of 101 students (9%) in practicum training sites are receiving
stipends ranging from $2,000-$7,500 dollars. The modal stipend was $5,000, the median $5,000 and the mean $4,700. Thirty-four of 94 students (36%) in intern level training sites are receiving stipends ranging from $1,000-$14,000. The modal stipend is $6,000, the median is $6,000 and the mean average stipend is $5,900. While the training office advocates for paid practica and internships, the importance of training supersedes that of funding. This strong orientation toward training is reflected in the field placements accepted by MSPP students.
Teaching Assistantships (TAs)
Teaching assistant stipends range from $1,000 - $1,750. In the 2007-2008 academic year TAs will receive payments totaling $50,000. Continuing students who are in good academic standing are eligible to apply for these positions. Entering students generally are not eligible to serve as teaching assistants.
