How To Apply For Financial Aid

Applicants for admission beginning in the 2010-2011 academic year and continuing students must submit the 2010-2011 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after January 1. Be sure to file on-line at fafsa.ed.gov and include the MSPP school code (G21636) on your application.

To be considered for institutional grant assistance, you must complete your FAFSA on or before March 1. Applications received after the priority due date of March 1 will be considered for institutional assistance, subject to the availability of remaining funding.

Applicants to the Lucero Scholarship or the MSPP endowed scholarships should submit, in addition to the FAFSA, a one-page statement of community service experience and career goals to the Office of Student Services. The priority due date is March 1.

After you complete your FAFSA, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) and your application results will be electronically released to MSPP. You should review your SAR for accuracy and make any necessary corrections. If you entered estimates of income on your FAFSA, you must make all required corrections when actual income information becomes available.

As a condition of awarding federal and institutional aid, MSPP may request verification of reported income, assets and household size. MSPP reserves the right to modify your award if your FAFSA information changes or if corrections are required.

Shortly after an offer of admission to MSPP, you will receive an award letter that will detail the types and amounts of federal and/or institutional assistance. You must then reply by indicating your acceptance or decline of aid offered.

All students must reapply each year for financial assistance and must maintain satisfactory academic progress. Students applying for admission to MSPP with prior federal education loans must obtain a loan deferment request form from the lender(s) or school(s) that originated the loan.

Students should complete the borrower section and deliver the form to the MSPP Registrar for certification. Your loan deferment request will be processed after you have officially registered for the Fall semester.
