Admissions Process for—Orientation

New Student Orientation/Fundamentals

Incoming students are required to attend "Fundamentals Week" previous to classes beginning. Here students are provided with information regarding curriculum, a study plan, field placement, professional issues, school governance, the Student Coordinating Committee (SCC), psychological assessment, self-care, ethics and financial aid among other topics. (See academic calendar for specific dates)

Buddies

Buddies are second and third year students who volunteer to introduce each first year student into the rigors of the doctoral program. Buddies ease the transition by introducing you to the program "from the student point of view." Buddies offer their support, and advice with logistics ranging from course load, employment, research, computer usage, and where to live, to name a few.

In order to accommodate entering student’s needs, Buddies are paired with incoming class members in the summer. From our experience, this proactive approach helps foster a smoother transition into the MSPP community "from the beginning."

A "Welcome to MSPP" barbecue is scheduled during "Fundamentals Week" to welcome new students to the community.
