School Psychology Program

Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in School Psychology

Field Education

In keeping with the MSPP “integrated model,” the program links coursework with concurrent field work, providing the opportunity to practice skills as they are learned in the classroom.

The doctoral internship requires a minimum of 1600 hours, at least half of which is in a clinical setting. The internship may be completed over a period of 1-2 years, at a minimum of 16 hours per week. The clinical setting may be a specialized educational program (e.g., a school for students with behavioral and emotional disabilities). Job-as-placement cannot serve as the doctoral level internship, as it would not meet requirements for psychology licensure or for APA program approval. A separately defined training experience in the school district where one is employed (e.g, an internship program, or an after-school program that provides therapeutic services) may qualify depending on the circumstances.
