Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in School Psychology

Admissions Requirements

The online application, which should be available in late August 2009, will require:

  1. Earned B.A. or B.S. degree;
  2. Prior coursework or relevant experience in psychology or education;
  3. Completed application that includes: a. three recommendations (online), b. official transcripts, c. essays;
  4. GPA of 3.0 or better;
  5. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) taken within the past 5 years;
  6. Interview.

Standard Admission

The application deadline for MA/CAGS level entry is January 13, 2010. Interviews will be conducted on Saturday, March 13th for applicants who are offered an interview. Applicants are notified electronically of the admissions decision no later than March 22nd. Applicants who receive an offer of admissions must accept or decline the offer by April 15th. Please be aware that under this option applicants must submit official General GRE scores and application deadline, interviews, confirmation, and offer acceptance deadline dates are the same as the School Psychology MA/CAGS Program.

Admission with Advanced Standing

Applicants for admission with advanced standing must hold a Master’s Degree or higher in school psychology or a closely related field of study (e.g., special education, professional psychology). To qualify for advanced standing, the applicant must have earned 30 or more credits of the MA/CAGS level courses.

Advanced standing applicants are encouraged to submit School Psychology Praxis II test scores to support their application. (Optional)

The following timelines are for advanced standing applicants only:

  • Take GRE by October 24, 2009
  • Advanced standing application deadline: November 18, 2009
  • Notification of interview offer by January 8, 2010
  • Interview date: Saturday, January 23, 2010
  • Admissions offer made by February 3, 2010
  • Transfer of credit documentation may be submitted at any time during the period of January 23rd to February 10, and will be reviewed within 6 weeks of submission (i.e., no later than March 24th)
  • Admissions offer acceptance deadline, March 31, 2010
  • Required courses begin July 2010
