CP 500—Fundamental Clinical Practice Skills

This course introduces students to the systemic issues and clinical skills relevant to beginning practice in the field. It will orient students to standards and regulations for training and practice; to the roles of students, faculty (advisors and liaisons), and supervisors; and t o ethical and professional conduct for students and practitioners. Students will be introduced to fundamental clinical skills including intake and history taking, mental status and the assessment of dangerousness. Attention to ethical standards, record keeping and the reporting of clinical information is discussed. This week – long course is required of all entering students.
