Master of Arts in Organizational Psychology PROGRAM (MA)
Curriculum
The MA program is an intensive 12-month, 30-credit degree program designed for working professionals who desire to expand, deepen, and sharpen their skills in leading and sustaining changes in organizations. Each course is scheduled to begin at an onsite monthly intensive weekend which is followed by and integrated with online and distance learning modules to accommodate the work and family schedules of students. Courses typically begin on Friday evenings (7:30 – 9:30PM) and continue through Saturday and Sunday (8AM-4:30PM). Students are expected to have read the required material and to be prepared for lecture, discussion, case exercises, presentations, and small team interactions/projects. Intensive weekends are followed by four weeks of lectures, discussion groups, and team work online (4-6 hours a week). Final integration of course content, group presentations and student evaluations occur on the Friday evening at the end of the fourth week of the course. The next course in the sequence begins on the Saturday of that same weekend.
Faculty is multidisciplinary and courses are team-designed and, for the most part, team-taught by faculty who are practicing organizational psychology, organizational development, and psychology professionals. This ensures that class content and process is current, “real world”, and applicable.
The cohort model is central to our educational approach. As a cohort, you will be in a class of people who will take the same courses in the same sequence as you throughout the duration of the program. We place a great deal of value on peer learning, and expect our cohorts to include students who have practiced some of the subject matter in their professional lives, and this experience adds richness to the program. Our cohorts will be strictly limited to 15 students to facilitate the opportunity to form close peer learner relationships. Finally, “Experiential Learning” will be employed over more traditional methods of education.
