Course Descriptions

FS 520—Psychology of Terrorism

Terrorism first received widespread attention in the US following the attacks of 9-11-01, but it is not a new phenomenon. This course provides a global overview of terrorism, as well as reactions to terrorism, as seen from the perspectives of victims, first responders, medical and mental health practitioners, social scientists, law enforcement, and military, as well as from the perspective of those engaging in acts seen as terrorism. (Terrorists’ statements will be taken from prison interviews, final letters and tapes, and other documents in the public domain).
