Program OverviewThe graduate program in Higher Education Student Personnel Administration at the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology prepares individuals to become student affairs educators whose special interest is college students and the achievement of their individual, academic, and career goals. Program PhilosophyMSPP integrates rigorous academic instruction with field education and professional development assistance. We believe that the best learning environment for future higher education leaders comes from integrating classroom knowledge with hands-on experience. The curriculum provides for an understanding of theory, training, and practice of higher education student personnel administration. We emphasize the development of professionals who are committed to the ethical provisions of quality services through the development of multicultural awareness, knowledge and skills. Program OutcomesIndividuals completing graduate study in the specialized area of higher education student personnel administration frequently subsequently assume any one of a variety of important functional roles in colleges or universities. Among these are directors of housing and/or residence life, student union and student activities directors, student counselors, athletics counselors/administrators, career development advisors, orientation program leaders, enrollment management administrators, racial and ethnic minority support services coordinators, Greek-life coordinators, and retention and assessment personnel, even vice presidents for student life. *Approval from NEASC for financial aid purposes is pending and will be finalized prior to the program start date.
