| Description: |
The complexities of the work are often daunting for the beginning couple therapist, and do not seem to become that much less challenging even after long experience. To be immersed into the throes of a troubled marriage or partnership is so powerful and so immediate, that we quickly find ourselves improvising, and even clutching at straws, rather than following a more deliberate plan. Part of this disanchoring is the pull exerted on us by being thrust back into primal family scenes, many of which remain inside of us from our own childhood in either an unmetabolized or dissociated form. |
