| Description: |
This 4-day on-site course, followed by 16 hours of online training, provides the required 48 didactic biofeedback education hours towards certification in general biofeedback (non-EEG) by the Biofeedback Certification Institute of America (BCIA). The course covers the basic psycho-physiological measures used in general or peripheral biofeedback, including sEMG (muscle tension), temperature, SCR or EDR (skin electrical conductivity associated with stress), respiration, BVP and HRV (measures of cardiovascular reactivity). The course combines didactic with practical training. Participants will learn how to handle biofeedback instrumentation, hook-up patients to biofeedback equipment, use the software, and interpret observed results. Sufficient time will be allowed for hands-on practice using the biofeedback equipment. Everyone will learn how to conduct a basic stress profile, interpret the results obtained, and plan an appropriate biofeedback treatment plan. Relative to other introductory general biofeedback courses that tend to emphasize the technical aspects of biofeedback, this course will allow sufficient time to discuss the clinical aspects of applying biofeedback techniques with patients suffering from a variety of conditions, such as migraines, tension headaches, TMJ, IBS, Raynaud’s, PTSD, phobias, as well as general stress-related disorders. |
