| Description: |
What do men and women fear most and desire in each other? These timeless stories provide a picture of each gender’s anxieties about the other: male fears of the feminine (Bram Stoker’s Dracula) and women’s fears of the masculine (Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein). Through discussion of the original stories of Dracula and Frankenstein (which people should be familiar with) and consideration of real life clinical vignettes, we’ll examine how understanding the monsters, demons, and vampires in ourselves and our patients makes us more effective therapists. We’ll consider implications for male and female therapists as well. |
