Instructor Biography

John J. Ratey, MD

Bio: John J. Ratey, M.D., is an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and has a private practice in Cambridge. He has lectured and published many articles on the topic of treating ADD adults using psychoeducation and pharmacotherapy. He specifically is interested in the impact of ADD on life issues such as relationships, employment, and personal fulfillment. His other major research interest is the treatment of aggressive behaviors across a range of diagnoses. Dr. Ratey has most recently published "Delivered from Distraction" with Edward Hallowell, M.D. He authored "A User’s Guide to the Brain," published by Pantheon Press/Random House. He has co-authored "Driven to Distraction" (1994) and "Answers to Distraction" (1995) with Dr. Hallowell, all published by Pantheon Press/Random House. Additionally, he has edited several books including "The Neuropsychiatry of Personality Disorders" (1994), published by Blackwell Scientific.
