Karlen Lyons-Ruth, PhD

Bio: Karlen Lyons-Ruth, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and a member of the clinical faculty at Cambridge Hospital. Her research focuses on the assessment of attachment relationships in high-risk environments over the infancy, childhood, and adolescent periods and has been supported by NIMH and NICHD. She is the author of numerous research articles and book chapters and speaks internationally on infant social development, maternal trauma and depression, and the parent-infant attachment relationship. She also works with the Boston Change Process Study Group in proposing reorientations in psychoanalytic theory based on the emerging body of developmental research findings. She maintains a private practice in Cambridge, MA.
