Michelle Harris is a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) and board certified registered art therapist (ATR-BC) who specializes in trauma sensitive art therapy with a cross-cultural lens.  She has been a clinician and trainer at the Trauma Center at JRI and both taught and worked as the Associate Director of Field Training at Lesley University in the Expressive Therapies Division.  She has also worked as a clinician and consultant with teachers in the Boston Public School system on approaches to improve learning for students with trauma exposure.

Michelle is also involved in a variety of community social justice and art projects.  She is a board member of Incest Resources, Inc. and the founder of the Survivor Quilt Project, which created the traveling exhibit "Incest Survivors Speaking Truth to the Next Generation" to discuss preventive, proactive approaches to intergenerational trauma.  She is an artist and collaborator with her California tribe on revitalization of the Coast Miwok language.  She is a member of the board of the Latin American Center for Trauma Studies and has provided training to psychologists, graduate students, and other community providers working with trauma survivors in Guatemala.

Michelle obtained her B.S. in Community Development and Applied Behavioral Sciences at The University of California – Davis, and her M.A. in Art Therapy at Marylhurst University in Lake Oswego, Oregon.
