Marsha Vannicelli, PhD

Dr. Vannicelli is a fellow in the American Group Psychotherapy Association, a Clinical Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School, and joined the MSPP faculty in 1995. She teaches Fundamentals of Groups: Group Dynamics and Advanced Theory Groups: Practice to Therapy. For many years she was a consultant and peer reviewer for the National Institute of Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse (NIAAA) and is currently on the board of the American Academy of Health Care Specialists in the Addictions. Previously Director (and founder) of the Appleton Substance Abuse Clinic at McLean Hospital, she is currently in private practice in Belmont, MA. She has published more than 50 publications including two Guilford Press books: Group Psychotherapy with ACOAs: Treatment Techniques and Countertransference Considerations and Removing the Roadblocks: Group Psychotherapy with Substance Abusers and Family Members. She has lectured on group psychotherapy and on the treatment of alcohol abusers and their family members at various national forums including the National Football League and internationally, including: Yugoslavia, Belgium, Brazil, Norway, Mexico, Holland, Northern Ireland, England, Israel, and Canada.
