Kimberly Larson, JD, PhD was hired in July 2009 as a core faculty member in the MA in Forensic & Counseling Psychology Program. Dr. Larson completed her law degree at Villanova University School of Law in 2006 and was admitted to the bar in New Jersey and Pennsylvania later that same year. She completed her joint PhD in Clinical Psychology at Drexel University in 2007. She is a former Postdoctoral Fellow in Forensic Psychology at the University of Massachusetts Law and Psychiatry Program. After completing her fellowship, she was hired as faculty in the Law and Psychiatry Program at UMass where she continues to conduct research and policy work with Thomas Grisso, PhD as part of the MacArthur Foundation’s National Youth Assistance Screening Project. Her current research interests include juvenile’s developmental capacities in legal contexts with a current emphasis on juvenile competence to stand trial. Her past clinical and forensic experience has included work with children, juveniles, and adults in correctional, inpatient, and outpatient settings where she has conducted evaluations including competence to stand trial, criminal responsibility, aid to sentencing, risk assessments, civil commitment, substance abuse, termination of parental rights/parental fitness, and custody and divorce evaluations.
