William Hodgetts, EdD
William Hodgetts, EdD is currently Vice President of Enterprise Coaching, Shared Services Talent Management at Fidelity Investments, where his responsibilities include providing executive coaching, developmental assessments, and other learning resources to senior executives, overseeing executive coaching company-wide, and maintaining a global referral network of coaching and other development resources. He also currently provides talent management and development support to Fidelity's global development centers in Ireland, India, and China. Bill is an experienced, senior executive coach who brings an extensive knowledge of leadership development, executive assessment, behavioral science and family business to his work with CEO's and other senior leaders.
Bill's background and training is in organizational psychology. He has spent over thirty-five years working in a variety of HR consulting and organizational/leadership development roles in the financial service sector. As a senior executive coach at Fidelity, Bill has worked closely with the Chairman and other senior leaders around issues of organizational change and learning, leadership development, family business, succession management. In addition to his work at Fidelity, Bill has provided in-depth executive assessment and coaching to senior executives at a number of major corporations, family businesses, and professional service firms including S.C. Johnson and Sons, Corning Glass, Dunkin Donuts, Metlife and the Peabody Essex Museum of Salem, Massachusetts.
Bill is a founding Board member of The Executive Coaching Forum, an organization devoted to establishing and promoting the highest standards of professional and ethical practice for the field of executive coaching, and for a number of years Chaired the Conference Board's Executive Coaching Council. He is a guest faculty member in the Authentic Leadership and Coaching Program at Naropa University in Boulder, CO.
Bill holds and EdD in human development and psychology from Harvard University, and a BA and MA in government from Cornell University, and has studied extensively in the fields of adult developmental psychology and organizational behavior. He has presented frequently at national conferences on executive coaching and leadership development, and is author of Using Executive Coaching in Organizations: What Can Go Wrong (And How to Prevent it), in Executive Coaching, Catherine Fitzgerald, editor, Davies Black, Fall 2001; also co-author (with Jane Hodgetts) of Finding Sanctuary in Post-Modern Life, from The Career is Dead, edited by Douglas T. Hall, Jossey-Bass, 1996. Bill has also been a lecturer at Harvard Extension School, Babson University and the Arthur D. Little School of management.
Bill teaches Assessment in Executive Coaching.
