Jane Adelizzi, PhD
Jane Utley Adelizzi is the Director of the Academic Resource Center (ARC) and Assistant Dean of Students at MSPP. She is Professor Emerita at Curry College where she developed the Adult Center at PAL, an academic support program for adults, which evolved from WILL, a nonprofit organization she initiated for women both beginning and returning to postsecondary education. She received her Ph.D. in Educational Studies from Lesley University, with a focus on the impact of psychological trauma on learning and functioning. A Board Certified Educational Therapist with the Association of Educational Therapists (AET), she developed a post-masters Certificate in Educational Therapy at Curry College. Dr. Adelizzi is a registered art therapist with ATCB, and applied these clinical skills to partial and residence programs at Westwood Lodge Psychiatric Hospital. Her publications include: co-editor and contributing author to A Closer Look: Perspectives & Reflections on College Students with Learning Disabilities (1995, Curry College); author of Shades of Trauma (1998, Jones River Press); co-author to Parenting Children with Learning Disabilities (2001, Bergin & Garvey); contributing author to Gender Issues and ADHD: Research, Diagnosis and Treatment (2003, Advantage Books); contributing author to Educators, Therapists, & Artists on Reflective Practice (2004, Peter Lang Publisher); and, co-editor and contributing author to the textbook, The Clinical Practice of Educational Therapy: A Teaching Model (2010, Routledge). Dr. Adelizzi is an adjunct instructor in the PsyD/School Psychology Program and teaches the elective, Educational Therapy: Perspectives for the Advanced Practitioner. The ongoing focus of her professional work is the relationship between the neurobiology of learning disorders and complex trauma.
