Andrea G. Sodano, PhD
Dr. Sodano is recently retired from Wal-Mart where she was Director of Health Information Technology. The focus of her group was to accelerate the adoption of health information technology and, in collaboration with internal and external partners, improve health care quality and efficiency, transparency, standards, safety, and effectiveness.
Prior to Wal-Mart, Dr. Sodano was a consultant to the Center for the Evaluative Clinical Sciences (CECS) at Dartmouth Medical School where she worked with the CECS leadership on a number of health care policy initiatives and the establishment of the Institute for Informed Patient Choice. She continues to be an adjunct faculty in the Department of Community and Family Medicine.
Prior to Dartmouth, Dr. Sodano spent 10 years at IBM as a Managing Principle, leading consulting efforts in the Insurance industry. She also led a team providing cost containment consultation to Strategic Outsourcing Project Executives. Within the CIO’s office she focused on complex program management, business transformation, leadership of multinational and technically diverse teams, and the interface of business and IT. While at IBM she traveled extensively, both within the US and internationally.
Prior to IBM, Dr. Sodano was an executive in several consulting firms including Symmetrix (strategy and process reengineering), Hay/McBer (executive coaching and leadership), and Circadian Technologies (continuous process manufacturing).
Dr. Sodano holds a Ph.D. in clinical and organization psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and held fellowships at Yale and Harvard Medical Schools. She has published numerous articles over the course of her career on organization change, customer relationship management, diversity, and community mental health. She is currently on the Board of Trustees for the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology (MSPP) and the Advisory Council for Women in Leadership at Bentley College.
